It’s never easy to write about yourself, so I’m going to stick to the facts. They’ll get me through.
I live in London, used to be a financial journalist, got a bit bored writing about market volatility, ETFs and junk bonds and now run a marketing/PR/ad/whatever firm called Glowbe. It’s a terrible name, I know, but I’m going to rebrand at some point soon to something a little chirpier — I’m thinking Rhizome or Black Sun.
I have several clients across several different sectors, mainly financial services, property, technology and search. One of my clients is Serverside, who sponsor this blog. They’re a wonderful bunch and are bringing all sorts of innovative new technologies to the card marketing space. I’ll be honest, I knew zero, zip, nada about the world of card marketing before I started with Serverside, but maybe that’s a good thing. As I see it, it’s ideas that count — lift and drop.
When I’m not at work, I’m running around after my gorgeous twin babies, Horace and Coco. My two cats, Ubu and Uma, are not impressed. My two favourite authors are Michel Houellebecq (a real left-hand read) and Pedro Juan Guttiérez; my two favourite poets are Charles Baudelaire and Victor Hugo; and my two favourite philosophers are Martin Heidegger and (who else) Friedrich Nietzsche.
Sportswise, I love rugby, cycling and darts.
My two favourite quotes of all time are by legendary Geordie darts commentator Sid Waddell:
“Bristow reasons; Bristow quickens; aaaaah Bristow!”
“We couldn’t have more excitement if Elvis walked in and asked for a chip sandwich.”
